CHOMP

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026

CHOMP is a single-player arcade game. There is no account, no sign-up and no newsletter. We never ask for your name, your email address or your location, and we do not sell personal data. What the game does touch is listed below, together with why we are allowed to and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

Anton Schulze, Germany — the full postal address is in the Impressum and forms part of this notice. Questions and privacy requests: chompsupport@gmail.com.

We are a one-person operation and are not required to appoint a data protection officer, so there is none to name.

What the game stores on your device

Your progress — high scores, coins, unlocked skins and worlds, settings — is written to your device. If you have iCloud enabled, that same save data syncs through your private iCloud container so it follows you to your other devices. We cannot read your iCloud container; only your devices can.

Game Center

If you sign in to Game Center, your scores are submitted to Apple's leaderboards along with the player alias you chose in Game Center. What is visible to other players is your alias and your score, never your real name or your email address. Game Center is operated by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy. Signing in happens through your Apple Account, not per game: you can sign out under iOS Settings › Game Center, which covers every game on the device. CHOMP stays fully playable without it.

Purchases

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Payment details never reach us — we receive only a confirmation from StoreKit that a purchase completed, so the game can unlock what you bought. Restoring purchases works through your Apple Account.

Advertising

CHOMP shows optional rewarded ads — you choose to watch one in exchange for a revive, doubled coins or a chest. Ads are delivered by Google AdMob. To do that, AdMob may process your device's advertising identifier, your IP address, coarse device and app information, and how you interacted with the ad. Google's handling of that data is described in Google's privacy documentation.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you see a consent dialog before ads are requested — Google's User Messaging Platform — where you grant or refuse consent for personalised advertising. Storing and reading information on your device for that purpose happens only with your consent, under § 25(1) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. If you refuse, ads still work; they are simply contextual rather than personalised.

You can change that answer whenever you like: the game's settings carry an Ad privacy choices row that reopens the same dialog. It appears where a consent choice exists at all, which is the EEA, the UK and Switzerland.

Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks separately whether the app may track you across other companies' apps and websites; you can change that answer at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Legal bases

Providing data is neither required by law nor by contract. Refusing consent for personalised ads costs you nothing in the game; not signing in to Game Center only means no leaderboards.

Who receives data, and where it goes

Apple (App Store, Game Center, iCloud, StoreKit) and Google (AdMob, User Messaging Platform) receive the data described above. They act on their own responsibility for those services, under their own privacy policies. We use no analytics provider, no newsletter tool and no customer database.

Both companies process data in the United States as well as in Europe. Such transfers are covered by the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and additionally by the EU standard contractual clauses where a recipient is not certified under it. You should know that the adequacy decision is the subject of ongoing litigation before the Court of Justice; if it were annulled, transfers would continue on the standard contractual clauses.

How long anything is kept

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to have processing restricted (Art. 18), to receive it in a portable form (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on our legitimate interest (Art. 21). Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future — withdrawing does not make what happened before it unlawful (Art. 7(3)).

Write to chompsupport@gmail.com and we will answer. Because erasure is the request people actually send, here is exactly what happens, honestly:

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU country where you live or work. For us, the competent authority is the supervisory authority of the federal state in which we are established (see the Impressum for our seat).

There is no automated decision-making and no profiling that produces legal effects for you (Art. 22 GDPR).

Your controls

Two things the reset does not touch: your scores already sitting on Apple's Game Center leaderboards, and the ad data held by Google. For a Game Center score, write to us — see Your rights above.

Children

CHOMP is not directed at children. You need to be at least 13 to play, and in the EEA consent for personalised advertising is only valid from the age of 16 — below that it must come from a parent or guardian (Art. 8 GDPR; the German age is 16 and other member states set it between 13 and 16). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If a child has been playing, the parent or guardian can erase everything with Reset everything in the game's settings; write to us and we will remove the child's Game Center entries as far as Apple's tools reach.

If you are in California

Serving personalised advertising can amount to "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CCPA/CPRA, even though no money changes hands. We do not sell personal information for money. If you are in California and want to opt out of that sharing, refuse the ad-consent dialog, turn off tracking in iOS Settings, or write to us — ads keep working, contextually.

Analytics

We do not run a separate analytics SDK. Aggregate, anonymous statistics such as downloads and crash counts are provided to us by Apple through App Store Connect; they are not linked to you.

Changes

If the game starts handling data differently, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
